Midlake “The Calling ” – called to the struggle of life

It is a bare three weeks until the release of the new album from one of our favourite Americana bands – the majestic Midlake.  A band that it is just too easy to gush over, so take that as done.  “A Bridge To Far” will be out on November 7th, but we have the latest single taken from it for you today.  Of ‘The Calling‘ Midlake singer and frontman Eric Pulido says: “I really liked where we landed with ‘The Calling’. A driving vibe that opens up nicely with the horn section Jesse and Sam devised so perfectly. Lyrically the song has to do with my own struggle with applying myself towards a given effort; denying or embracing that which we were made to do.”

We did mention that you might see a few more performance videos as Tracks, and, you know what?  We were right.  That was a bet we couldn’t lose, to be fully honest about it.

Oh, and by the way, they’re touring the UK early next year with these great dates available:

31st January – Sunderland – The Fire Station

1st February – Birmingham – Moseley Folk & Arts All-dayer

3rd February – Manchester – Gorilla

4th February – Leeds – Brudenell Social Club

5th February – Bristol – Thekla

6th February – London – Electric Ballroom

7th February – Brighton – Chalk

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
