MJ Lenderman, the North Carolina-based singer, songwriter and guitarist, has announced his new album, “Manning Fireworks”, which is due out on 6th September 2024, via ANTI-, his studio debut on the label.  He had previously announced tour dates in the UK and Europe. It follows last year’s live record “And the Wind (Live and Loose!)”, and 2022’s breakthrough “Boat Songs”.  In addition to his solo work, Lenderman is a member of Asheville band Wednesdays and an in-demand collaborator, most recently on Waxahatchee’s “Tigers Blood” – his duet with Katie Crutchfield on ‘Right Back To It’ has been nominated for a 2024 American Music Association award for Song of the Year.

Cover Art MJ Lenderman Manning FireworksOn “Manning Fireworks”, Lenderman “builds on the key elements from his previous albums but adds a new sincerity, too, as he lets listeners clearly see the world through his warped lens.”  “Manning Fireworks” was recorded at Asheville’s Drop of Sun Studios whenever Lenderman had a break from the road. Co-produced with frequent collaborator Alex Farrar, Lenderman plays nearly every instrument. Pre order and pre-save links can be found here.

The latest single to be taken from the album ‘She’s Leaving You’, is a half-sneering portrait of a middle-aged man cheating his way through a midlife crisis, at least until he gets caught and blasts Clapton in a rented Ferrari en route to Vegas. It also happens to be the perfect shout-along anthem for any kid who’s ever felt short-changed by their parents.  The song’s accompanying video, which you can see below, was directed by Whitmer Thomas and Clay Tatum.
