Oh what a slick sound Mt. Joy have on their new double A side single of which ‘Strangers‘ is one A-side. Perhaps it’s because they’ve been working with producer Tucker Martin – there’s a hint of that My Morning Jacket to the new song. maybe it’s the unusually prominent keyboards from Jackie Miclau. Anyway, this is just a whistle wetter – there’ll be a new album out on the 5th of June, it’ll be called ‘Rearrange Us‘.
‘Strangers‘ has Matt Quinn declaring that he’s so over that girl, he’s on the look-out for new love “Well I guess I’ll have to fall in love with strangers / Ride through New York City like I’m famous“, before heading to a chorus that leaves no doubts : “‘Cause I am over you / I am over you / And I am over you / I am over you / I am over you, and I am over you.” Yeah – he’s not over her.
