Noah and the Whale’s Matt Owens to release solo album – November

Matt Owens, founder member of the lovely Noah and the Whale, will be releasing his first solo album late November. Currently being recorded at Airtight Studios in Manchester, the album is being produced by Nigel Stonier (Thea Gilmore, Joan Baez, The Waterboys) and is the first time since Noah and the Whale and Matt’s band Little Mammoths where he’s solely responsible for writing the songs.

The guest list of artists appearing on the album include Nigel Stonier, Thea Gilmore, Adrian Gautrey, Paul Beavis (Andy Fairweather Low), Carleigh Aikins (Bahamas, Paper Bird, Jack Johnson), and Michael Blair (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Lou Reed).

Plans are in place to tour the album at the end of November which will include a number of full band dates. You can catch a preview of the album at The Hard Rock Café Back Room Bar tonight when Matt will be joined by Nigel Stonier, and then as support to Thea Gilmore at the Words and Music Festival, Nantwich on 12th October, along with a solo show on 13th October.   In the meantime Matt has shared a short video of album rehearsal with Nigel Stonier and then studio with Thea and Nigel with AUK exclusively. Enjoy.
