NUTANA “You Belong” – fitting right in

NUTANA is the new solo project of Sam Corbett, who is also the drummer in The Sheepdogs.  There’s a debut album coming on April 7th, but ‘You Belong‘ is the early taster single. It is, Corbett says “about imposter syndrome, and I think a lot of people can identify with the feeling that maybe they don’t deserve success, or that they are not doing what they were meant to be doing. This song is my statement to the contrary. I hope other people can relate to that sentiment, or maybe even find a totally different meaning in the song.

There’s a small nod to the other band in his life with the lyric “The One You Belong To” which was lifted from a Sheepdog’s song just because it seemed to fit.  Another nice touch is that the sax’ solo is played by Corbett’s father, says Corbett “he’s been working as a professional musician my entire life, and this is our first real collaboration.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
