Our new playlist of the best new Americana we’ve heard over the last month is out later today for AUK supporters, which includes new tracks by The Delevantes, Sturgill Simpson, The Connells, Riddy Arman and Charley Crockett among others. Our giveaway this month is a copy of a new book by Ralph Brookfied “On the Trail of Americaba Music” which takes a stab at the difficult task of grasping the many-headed beast that is Americana Music. Brookfield’s book is described as being, ‘Based on numerous interviews with leading musicians and music industry professionals … explores the illusive genre and movement that is Americana…. its historical roots in country folk and other rebel music’ and as we pointed out in our review, anyone who can identify that trail accurately and reach a conclusion deserves a mention and it is something that occupies the entire AUK brain’s trust on a regular basis. It’s a fascinating look at the genre with chapters on traditional americana, the different strands of the genre and contemporary ambassadors for the genre.
