Something for the long weekend: Great Lake Swimmers “Swimming Like Flying”

Neglect dear reader comes in all kinds of different forms but the cruelest kind for AUK readers is when the PR for a great band entirely relevant to our audience don’t send us their new album for review and we then hear about it on our Spotify release radar. Abhorrent behaviour. We leave you accordingly this week with a track by the reliably excellent folks from the Great Lakes of Ontario, Canada, Great Lake Swimmers who have a new album out called ‘Uncertain Country’. Although it’s a consistently strong record with an epic title track, pick of the bunch for us is ‘Swimming Like Flying’ which has the hallmark driving guitars and vocals which make the band sound so distinctive, and a melody to kill for. Have a good one and viva le revolution for Monday comrades, workers of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but a day’s worth of americana news and reviews. See you on Tuesday.
