That’s it for us this week dear reader, a sad week for us here as we said our goodbyes to AUK writer Gordon Sharpe whose final piece we published today posthumously – when I look back at the volume of his material he published for the site including his incredibly detailed and thoughtful book reviews, it makes me realise just how irreplaceable he’s going to be. It felt like a real privilege yesterday to be at his funeral and hear what a big part of his life the Americana UK community was to him, despite him having such a rich and varied life. I do feel very honoured to have known him.
If you do happen to be in or around South Liverpool tomorrow afternoon and fancy joining us for a little house gig featuring LA’s Brady Harris, hit us up here. In the meantime, we leave you this weekend with a lovely new song by the St. Louis, Missouri born Angel Olsen who The Guardian has a really interesting interview with today She has taken a strong americana turn for her new album ‘Big Time’ which comes out a week today and will be a good distraction from the nonsense this time next week. Have a good one.
