Something for the weekend: Lucinda Williams covers ZZ Top

Well that’s it for another week dear reader. A lot of new stuff out today singles-wise including a new eighties sounding song by Sam Outlaw, a new collaboration from Darlingside with The Distantly Social Orchestra, and hey, if that’s not enough excitement dear Chris De Burgh, beloved of my late mum, is back with another track from his forthcoming musical based on the story of, er, Robin Hood – which I like to think makes Chris a lefty and the song is not bad honestly!  But we leave you though with a live recording (shot on a slightly wobbly phone sorry) from Lucinda Williams who performed as part of a three-night run at Austin City Limits Live At The Moody Theater in Austin, Texas in support of Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit. One of the nights saw Williams perform, with her longtime collaborator, Texas guitarist Charlie Sexton, a cover of ZZ Top’s ‘Jesus Just Left Chicago’ and it is everything you hope Lucinda covering ZZ Top would be – apart from being there in person. Have a good one.
