So this article usually appears on a Friday about lunchtime. As my hairdresser used to say, “Something for the weekend, sir?” although the raised eyebrow always scared me off, so I never took him up on whatever it was. But this week, not so, as I missed my deadline, and I suspect your weekend was all the poorer for my poor timekeeping. I do have an excuse. It’s not a great excuse, but it is a real one. I normally write the article on Wednesday morning after my radio show on Tuesday, but this week, just as I was preparing the Mac, the phone went and I discovered that Black Deer in the City had been cancelled and my radio show had been pulled.
To say I was gutted is an understatement. I was really quite upset. So I went for a long walk, took lots of calls, and somehow found a pub. Don’t know what it was doing there, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I’m not saying legless but certainly, shall we say, more sanguine coming out than going in, I returned home to write and… fell asleep. Next day, back-to-back stuff. Missed deadline. My apologies.
I’m not advocating drinking as a release from bad news, but occasionally it’s a nice thing to do, and the jukebox in the pub certainly got a good hammering. For those who listened to my news show on Black Deer Radio, do not despair (and head for the pub), as I might have a cunning plan…
This week, the beautiful AVVT/PTTN and somehow some Scott Lavene, both brilliant in their own way, and if you’ve not heard before, please listen. The radio featured a lot of Pete Bruntnell and some Molly Tuttle, Bonny Lighthorseman, Tragically Hip, and much more. As ever…
