“How can you really miss what you never really knew?” asks Stella Maxwell on this upbeat number that she compares to “‘Stuck in the Middle with You’ but the lyrics are more ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’.” It’s a breakup for certain, and there’s an undercurrent of distress that’s just about discernable “and now I drink myself to bed and cry myself to work.”
Stella and the Very Messed have as their core Stella Maxwell and Dave Hawkins, both former members of the Austin based band, Cruiserweight. They were a band with a plan – get some songs together and go out and tour. Not figuring in the plan was a global pandemic, so the plan changed to get some more songs together and put out an Ep – it’s called ‘Marigold’ and it was released on May 7th.
