It’s funny how some artists who don’t ever label themselves as americana have a certain resonance with americana audiences – Del Amitri are one of those bands and notwithstanding the fact that they sometimes tend to veer dangerously close to dad rock territory at least in terms of the company they keep on MOR radio, tonight’s set in Manchester proved just what a great songwriter Justin Currie is and has always been. Del Amitri are back! Tour dates for 2018 announced

Del Amitri have announced their return in 2018 for a UK tour, the Glaswegian band’s first run of dates since 2014. The July 2018 tour includes original band members – Justin Currie (vocals, guitar), Iain Harvie (lead guitar), Andy Alston (keys), Kris Dollimore (guitar) and Ashley Soan(drums) – and will see Del Amitri headline Edinburgh Castle for the first time in 25 years. The band will also return to London’s Hammersmith Apollo, where they played a sold-out show in January 2014 on ‘The A To Z of Us Tour’, their first UK dates for more than a decade.  Continue reading “Del Amitri are back! Justin Currie announces new solo album, video and UK dates – Watch

Ex Del Amitri frontman Justin Currie will release a new album “This Is My Kingdom Now” on May 12th this year on Endless Shipwreck Records, and you can see the video for the title track below. Currie will support the release with a headline tour with his band The Pallbearers, culminating at Islington Assembly Hall on June 2nd.  Incidentally the blurb we got sent on this describes Curry “fannying about” from 2003 for 4 years before “pulling his finger out”, and notes that he describes himself as “suicide in a saucy shirt”, so it wins the award already for best press release of 2017.  As they say of Justin: “The question mark was missing, perhaps denoting an answer reached: “the future is miserable and I shall sing it”.  Continue reading “Justin Currie announces new solo album, video and UK dates – Watch”
