The multi-award-winning americana duo, The Weeping Willows are returning to the UK for their fourth summer tour having appeared at Knutsford Music Festival, Beardy Folk Festival and Maverick Festival in recent years.
The Weeping Willows are Laura Coates and Andrew Wrigglesworth, a couple of old souls steeped in bluegrass tradition and americana imagery. They regale their audiences with stories of sunshine and romance, God and The Devil, murder and decay. The duo, who hail from Melbourne, Australia, have been nominated for many awards in Australia and have performed showcases at both Nashville’s AmericanaFest and Folk Alliance International. Their latest album, “You Reap What You Sow” (2022), was reviewed favourably on these pages, with reviewer Ljubinko Zivkovic complimenting the Weeping Willows on “their impressive dual vocal lines” and “the musicianship and timeless quality of the songs”.
You can see a performance below of The Weeping Willows performing ‘Black Crow’ from their Australian Folk Music Awards Showcase at the 2023 National Folk Festival.
