Tift Merritt – new album, new tour

The truly wonderful Tift Merritt returns in 2017 with a new album – Stitch of the World – and glories of glories she’s bringing it to the UK for a short tour.  Kicking off with an admirably intimate gig at The Lexington (and unbelievably there are tickets still available) at the end of January, there’s then a series of larger halls across the country including appearances at Celtic Connections in Glasgow. Tift Merritt has won a strong following for her songwriting and playing, with comparisons to Joni Mitchell and – when at the piano – Carol King being more than deserved.  A distinctive voice in her own right with the ability to tear the heart with her gorgeous country/folk vocals.

If you know her already then you won’t want to miss her live, and if you don’t then all we can say is “Dude, it’s time to catch up with what’s going on”.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
