Carrington MacDuffie has a trio of EPs and an album to her name, and this acoustic version of ‘I’m the One‘ is her latest single which we’re mighty happy to be premiering today. It’s a light take on a “gotta be free to be me” vibe, of which MacDuffie has said “I had a blast recording the acoustic version of this single with my guys in Austin, Texas. There’s a lively, lighthearted creativity at the core of that city that bubbles up in their performance.”
Carrington MacDuffie’s New York childhood left her with a wide range of influences including Beethoven, Herb Alpert, Hudson River folk, Scottish marches, the Mamas and the Papas, Arlo Guthrie, and the Beatles – some of which have rubbed off on the new song.
Carrington MacDuffie has a full life outside of music as well with her career as a versatile voice actor which has led to such diverse employment as narrating biographies of Joni Mitchell, Pussy Riot, and Jack Kerouac, and playing a shamanic Scottish Dwarf in World of Warcraft. Music though is clearly a big part of her life – evidence for which is her upcoming extensive Summer tour of the UK, the dates can be found below.
