Cooper Stoulil’s new release is his debut solo album ‘Someday in the Light, Again‘, which emerged when he and his Dravus House bandmate Elena Loper decided to put their duo activity on hold for the duration of the pandemic, giving them both time to work on solo activities.  The Seattle-based Stoulil recorded ‘Someday in the Light, Again‘ at The Brickyard Studio on Bainbridge Island which is owned and operated by Johnny Bregar, who played a vital role through both producing and engineering the record, as well as contributing instrumentation on most of the tracks.

Stoulil’s musical influences are solidly in Americana – raised on Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson during childhood road trips, and then selecting to listen to Elliott Smith, Fugazi, Iron & Wine, and Devendra Banhart when he was pillaging his older sister’s CD collection in middle school.  Around the time Cooper turned 16, a creative mentor introduced him to alternate tunings and all of a sudden, his musical world bore strange and beautiful new colors.  Fascinated by the droning pedal tones and lush voicings, the new approach laid the groundwork for his style and progression as an artist.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
