The Morning Yells is an American band based in the Beach Cities of Los Angeles. The band are led by siblings Phil and Laura Stancil, and The Morning Yells have released two LPs, two EPs, as well as several singles since their inception in 2017. They’ve worked with notable engineers and producers, including Clay Blair (War on Drugs, Bjorns), Mark Rains (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Shooter Jennings), and Sara Watkins (Watkins Family Hour, Nickel Creek), and pride themselves on their ability to draw from a variety of genres in their sound.
Their newest single, ‘Natural Feel,’ will be out on September 22nd on Blackbird Record Label – but you can hear it right now on Americana UK. It shows The Morning Yells demonstrating that blending of genres – electronica-folk, modern Indie-folk and then, hey, a great rocking out section that might bring to mind Drive By Truckers.
On any given night in L.A., we’re told, you might find the band hard at work on a pool table, digging into their fifth game of 8-ball and their third pitcher of cold beer. They’ll probably be hashing out their next record and discussing the merits of “Jaws” and Robert Shaw as well. But you won’t find them in L.A. tomorrow night – because The Morning Yells will be putting in an appearance at Americana Fest in Nashville on the same bill as Chris Pierce, Abby Posner and many others.
