Cole Gallagher sings plaintively about the end of a relationship in his latest single. ‘Don’t You Know’, produced by GRAMMY-winner Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Jack White), has the feel of 1970s folk-rock and is a great vehicle for Gallagher’s distinctive voice; his powerful vocal delivery is at the heart of the song. Fabulous musicianship is provided by current and former members of 400 Unit: Chad Gamble, Sadler Vaden and Jimbo Hart.
Gallagher says of the song: “‘Don’t You Know’ is a track that I have been waiting to release for a long time. At its core, the lyrics tell the story of one of the toughest internal battles I’ve ever encountered. This song was beautifully produced by Vance Powell, and the players from the 400 Unit somehow created a track that was both gnarly and smooth at the same time.”
Like Gallagher’s previous videos, this is pure cinema. Directed by Andrea Jako, the film follows a gritty narrative that ends with Gallagher digging his own grave. Brilliantly shot in the striking setting of California’s desert, the video stars Alexander Karavay and Samantha Violet as violent characters plotting their revenge. The drama reflects the tension and feeling in Gallagher’s performance.
Last year’s EP, ‘The Confluence’, was a dynamic, confident debut from Cole Gallagher, featuring members of 400 Unit and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos. If you haven’t already, check it out – Gallagher is definitely one to watch.
