Video: Flavie Mialon “Highlands’ Shores”

Lose yourself in the gentle beauty of ‘Highlands’ Shores’ from singer-songwriter Flavie Mialon, who was born in the French Alps and is now based in Berlin. Mialon’s quiet, understated vocal performance is like a personal reflection, her delicate vulnerability exposed and intimate. Layers of bass, percussion and guitar build slowly, while Alex Connaughton’s pedal steel twists and turns, lilting and bending and elevating like a second singing voice. The result is a gorgeous blend of Americana and timeless folk, a haunting, ethereal song full of atmosphere.

The accompanying video was created from Super 8 shots taken in Ireland, Iceland and the Alps; the scenery is breathtaking and expansive, but the found-footage, retro feel of the film evokes an intimacy, like personal memories of these places. It works perfectly with the song’s tone and lyrical themes.

This is the first single from Mialon’s upcoming 5-track EP, which is due to be released in March 2026. Recorded live to tape, the songs have a raw authenticity and an undercurrent of live energy beneath the sweet stillness and melancholy of Mialon’s dreamy folk. She explains: “These songs have been crafted from a very intimate place, a place of solace within. Recording them live with the band allowed me to hold onto that vulnerability and capture the human imperfections that make them feel alive.” This collection reflects Mialon’s personal experiences, transformed into musical memories. Absorbing, atmospheric sounds – enjoy.
