Video: Hjalte Ross “Adrenaline”

With building layers of brass, deep bass, a slow beat and tinkling piano, the latest single from Danish singer-songwriter Hjalte Ross is a lush and soaring triumph at the end of summer.  It’s taken from the new album, ‘Waves of Haste’, due on 27th November.  The songs were largely written in a Norwegian lighthouse on a tiny island, inspired by the waves, the Northern Lights, the isolation.

Benefiting from excellent players and collaborations, the album was recorded with John Wood (Nick Drake, Fairport Convention) and mixed in New York by Daniel Goodwin.  ‘Adrenaline’ is the first single from the upcoming record and represents a shift, an expansion in Ross’s sound and ambition.  This is well-worth checking out.
