Margo Price has teamed up with Jesse Welles to deliver another compelling, immediately likeable tune. Price dances along to the grooving rhythms, and ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ is sure to get you moving too. This is a stomping country rocker, in which Price spills a stream of ideas, a torrent of words, as she imagines herself in all sorts of different places, dreaming of being anywhere except the reality of where she finds herself. Partly inspired by one of Price’s favourite poets, Frank Stanford, the song started out as a series of notebook entries later discovered by her husband and collaborator, Jeremy Ivey. She says: “Something like: Jesse Welles is another insurgent artist who has carved his own path, and is unafraid to speak truth to power…I can’t wait to see him out at Newport Folk Festival this summer, etc.” In the video, Price finds herself in various locations described in the song, as well as joyfully line-dancing in the woods.

This is the latest single from the forthcoming new album, “Hard Headed Woman”, which is due out on 29th August 2025. The new collection is filled with classic country songwriting and timeless, brilliantly crafted music. Recorded in the historic RCA Studio A, this is actually the first Margo Price album to be created in Nashville. It’s been some career already for the GRAMMY-nominated Price. Her four previous albums are all critically acclaimed, and she is the first female musician appointed to the Farm Aid Board of Directors. She has collaborated with a who’s who of country and roots stars, including Willie Nelson, Billy Strings, Dolly Parton, John Prine, Loretta Lynn, Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples, Sierra Ferrell and Sturgill Simpson. Over the coming months, Price will be taking to the road for a huge headline tour with a new live band, including a show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Newport Folk Festival, dates with Mumford & Sons and Farm Aid. Look out for the new album, something to enjoy at the end of summer.
