Video: Misty River “With You Around”

‘With You Around’ is the latest release from Misty River, following their debut single, ‘Take This Love’, which is currently featuring in popular Netflix documentary ‘A Secret Love’. Carmen Phelan’s distinctive vocal stands out on this shimmering, summery song. It’s timeless, authentic music, rich in melody. The core of the London-based band is married duo Adam Morley (guitar) and Phelan on vocals and piano. On this song they are surrounded by a team of excellent players Jeremy Stacey (Ryan Adams, Ethan Johns) on drums, Andy Wallace (Ronnie Wood) on Hammond and banjo and Jody Linscott (Stevie Wonder) on percussion.

The band recorded the song at Eastcote Studios in London, and worked with six-time Grammy-winner Vance Powell in Nashville to complete it. The quality of the performance and production is clear. It all bodes well for the band’s debut album. Misty River have just announced that ‘Promises’ will be released in January 2021.

Phelan says of the song, “‘With You Around is about the person that makes you light up when they’re around, even if you never get a chance to tell them that. With everything that’s happening in the world at the moment it seems more

important than ever to find ways of letting the special ones around us know they are loved, be it family members, friends or lovers.”

Morley adds, “We recorded the song live at Eastcote Studios because we knew we’d be able to capture the classic Country Soul sound we were looking for. Each take felt really different and this one had a unique energy that we all found really exciting. It was that point in the day when all the musicians are warmed up and having fun. We loved what Vance Powell had done with Chris Stapleton so he finished it in Nashville and brought his own energy to it.”
