Video Premiere: Danny Horn & The Shared Myths “Keep On Careening Karina”

The new song from Danny Horn & The Shared Myths is a dark tale of a relationship in ruins.  However, “Keep On Careening Karina” positively bounds along with a wonderfully insistent rhythm and a gloriously bright, bouncing melody.  Fast fiddle soars above the pulsing stand-up bass while Horn’s clear infectious tune is buoyed by the band’s backing vocals.  There’s a real sense of motion and turmoil in the lyrics: “Keep on careening Karina, you been dreaming // Of a world that’s got you dizzy with me // Keep on breathing, my aching head is seething // Please Karina, make a new memory,” reflecting the upbeat movement of the music.  It’s infectious stuff that will be absorbing in a live show.

Horn says of the song: “‘Keep on Careening Karina’ is the first single from our new album, ‘The Death of Lucy’. One of the central themes of this album is escaping toxic relationships and the fictional Karina represents just this. Our central character has finally untangled himself from her web and the song is positioned in the aftermath of this torrid affair. But I wanted to juxtapose these slightly weighty ideas with a bouncy, summery, gypsy folk slant. It’s been a big fan favourite at our gigs for a while and we are delighted to present it as our first single on the new album.”

Look out for the new album – Danny Horn’s catchy, uplifting sounds could be the musical accompaniment to your spring and summer.
