Video Premiere: Don’t Drink the Water “Sally’s Got a Secret”

Here is the video premiere of ‘Sally’s Got a Secret’ from the Northampton-based band, Don’t Drink the Water.  The band features father and son duo David and Ben O’Leary, who have performed in the past under the name Cold Cold Heart.  The inspiration for the song came when David O’Leary was writing a stage production and one of the characters resonated with him and formed the basis of this song.  It’s in a classic country style, full of heartache and broken dreams.

This is the debut single from a forthcoming EP, set to be released on Fretsore Records later this year. According to the band: “Our inspiration starts with Hank Williams through to Eamonn Kelly and continues with great writers and artists like John Prine, Levon Helm, Slaid Cleaves to Jack Kerouac and Brer Rabbit. It’s the music of outlaws, bar room Romeos, friendly waitresses, lonesome railroad men and tough situations.”  You can expect narrative songs and warm, country vocals.  Look out for the new EP, ‘Saturday Night Paint’, out soon.
