Video Premiere: Ferris & Sylvester “Headache” (Live)

Here is the latest single from husband-and-wife duo Ferris & Sylvester.  ‘Headache’ is a beautiful example of their fine songcraft, featuring an absorbing melody and deeper feeling that lingers after the song has finished.  As always, the pair’s harmony vocals are sublime – the combination of their voices is excellent – perfectly executed and natural.  Archie Sylvester’s acoustic  guitar-work is warm and mellow, a great foundation for the lyrics and  couple’s voices to rise above.

Written after a disagreement, ‘Headache’ is a timeless love song and a scenario we’ll all be able to relate to: “You’re giving me a headache, // Why you doing this to me? // You’re making such a mess, babe.”  Ferris explains: “We wrote ‘Headache’ after an argument. As a husband-and-wife band, we wanted to write something truthful about relationships, inspired by old-school country love songs. I remember saying to Archie, ‘I want Dolly Parton to hear this song and like it.’ That’s what inspired us to write it.”  The authenticity and emotion come through in this live performance of the song, full of aching vocals and feeling.  And, if Dolly’s listening, I’m certain she’ll love this.

‘Headache’ is the latest single release from the forthcoming album, ‘Otherness’, which is due on 1st March 2024.  Fans have already had a taste of the record from the ‘Side A’ EP that was released at the end of 2023 as a preview of what’s to come.  The new album is an ambitious blend of styles and layers, building on their reputation for outstanding songcraft from their first full album, ‘Superhuman’, winner of UK Album of the Year at the 2023 UK Americana Awards.  The new material explores a range of emotions, inspired in part by major health issues arising from the premature birth of their son while they were on tour in Nashville.  Ferris & Sylvester will be touring the UK and Germany throughout February and March, including a London show at Lafayette on album-release-day.  Their live-energy is special and highly recommended.  In the meantime, absorb this heartfelt song.
