Artificial Intelligence creates stunning psychedelic scenes for Thea Gilmore’s new video, ‘Bones’. Images of a human eye morph, dance, shimmer and evolve to the underlying pulse of the song as Gilmore’s haunting vocals float above the music and amidst the imagery. Evocative of both an unwritten future and the oil and light shows of the ’60s the AI artwork that visual artist Andy Goff created for this song matches the mood and message of the music perfectly.
Thea says: “I’m super curious about and had been playing with AI generated video for a while. ‘Bones’, with its themes of connection, women, personal and global, seemed to fit with the broad scope of what AI could handle. I played around with the literal aspects of the themes… images of the earth and eyes and let AI melt them together. Then getting visual mastermind Andy Goff in to dig even deeper into the song pulling footage of me and x-rays, we developed this beautiful sweep of imperfect human and perfect machine. I think we were a good team.”
‘Bones’ is the lead single from Gilmore’s new E.P. ‘Was’. This is the first of four EPs that will be aggregated into a full-length album in 2023.
“The lead track, ‘Bones’ delves into what it means to be a woman,” says Thea. “I wanted to herald those who came before and paved the way, forging the steel of womanhood to create an undeniable and undefeatable truth that cannot be erased.”
Gilmore will be touring extensively through the UK during the month of November.
I have seen Thea twice this year, Shrewsbury Folk Festival in August and at Norwich Arts Centre last week . If you are able to get out to see her I would urge you to do so , you will not be disappointed . She is playing some great music with some really interesting vocal and guitar looping ,
