Violet Whimsey “They Say” – enough with the old folks blabbering on…

Violet Whimsey have a simple message – they don’t care what you think and they’re going to live their own life.  Not in an Alice Cooper or Sex Pistols way (not even in a Toyah way), but definetly without lisening to all that old “blah, blah, blah“.  So whilst ‘They Say‘ is softly melodic and pretty soothing to listen to, the words are a gentle kiss-off to the old folks: “I know I  frustrate you with the things that I do and where we’re going I have no clue.”  And, in the way of youth, there’s a rejection of the endless (endless) advice: “They say so many things, does it really mean anything? Beside that they’re so, so bored.”   And they’re right – if you’re bored then you’re not doing it right.

They Say‘ is taken from the New Jersey band’s upcoming album ‘Love Love‘, which’ll turn up this Autumn (you know, if you’re lucky).  Kids, eh?

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
