William Lawrence has his third solo album ‘Fool for You‘ set for release on Christmas Eve. It’s an album that didn’t turn out as he’d expected – his usual approach is to record most of the music himself but with how this year unravelled he was able to call on his bandmates in The Felice Brothers, and others, to help out.The title song is a gently sad awakening to an unpleasant truth “when I learnt you were an outlaw there was nothing I could do.” In this case it’s the movie outlaws that are being alluded to: “seen the outlaw in the movies / smile shining like the moon / always riding off alone ‘cos always got a job to do.” There’s a lot of acceptance in the song because, well, if you’re going to be a fool for anything then a fool for love is not the worst choice one could make.
