Snowgoose have announced the release of their third album, “Descendant”, on 18th October 2024 through Violette Records. “Descendant”, which follows 2020’s “The Making Of You”, offers “a narrative of human emotion”, crafted by the core duo of guitarist Jim McCulloch (The Soup Dragons, BMX Bandits) and vocalist Anna Sheard along with a strong supporting cast including Raymond McGinley (Teenage Fanclub) on guitar, Chris Geddes (Belle and Sebastian) on keyboards, and Stuart Kidd (BMX Bandits) on drums.
Recorded live at Chem 19 Studios in Glasgow, “Descendant” captures the unfiltered essence of Snowgoose’s sound. “[The record] explores the delicate interplay between the joys of love and the inevitability of loss,” explains Sheard. “Each song navigates the complex emotions that connect these experiences, serving as a reflection on the beauty and pain of impermanence.”
The band has released the album’s opener ‘Better Listen’ as a single. “[It] feels optimistic,” says Sheard of the track. “It speaks of the importance of hope and the need to stay true to yourself when facing challenges in a relationship. Exploring the trials of waiting for answers, hoping to be heard, clinging onto positives, determined not to let go. The accompanying video documents the intimacy and connection between musicians within the walls of the recording studio. It marks the passage of time from start to finish of the track being recorded live at Chem19, Scotland.”
