Mary Webster, Melanie Glenn, Harry D’Agostino and Dylan McKinstry are Upstate, a Hudson valley based folk quartet and this song is taken from their third album ‘You Only Get A Few‘ which was released on the last day of March. ‘Catalpa’ features the twin vocals of Mary Webster and Melanie Glenn – making a sound so beautiful it can only be described as right as a trivet. Balanced and grounded, for all that they reach for the sky. It’s really nice, you’ll like it.
Melanie Glenn says of the song “I wrote ‘Catalpa’ after falling in love with the tall catalpa trees in the Hudson Valley. They stuck out to me because they bloom in June, after the flowers, which I thought would be a lovely musical image.”
