Something for the long weekend: Art Bergmann “Gazacide”

That’s it from us for another week dear reader. If you’re in or near Liverpool tomorrow (Saturday) night and fancy popping along to a little gig we’re putting on featuring John Wesley Harding who in recent years recorded a whole album with The Jayhawks, do give us a shout. In the meantime, we leave you with a new track by Art Bergmann, the proceeds of which will be donated to Gaza Relief. Bergmann wrote ‘Gazacide’ in response to the sense of helplessness he felt at seeing coverage of the war in Gaza. He then teamed up with Palestinian-Canadian singer/songwriter Sara Wazani who incorporated some of the desperate Arabic words written on the Al-Aqsa hospital walls. The song was recorded with Dave Genn (54-40, Matthew Good Band) at Burnbridge Studio in Vancouver B.C., and mixed by Malcolm Burn (Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Emmylou Harris). As Bergman commented, “If the International Criminal Court can’t stop a declared genocide, maybe a song can.” The next UK national demo is on June 8th. Enjoy the long weekend if it stops raining!
