Video Premiere: The Mighty Bosscats “Let it Go”

Here is the latest single from Richard Townend & The Mighty Bosscats.  On ‘Let it Go’, Townend’s vocal performance is particularly strong – full of weary character, his voice is soulful and gritty, perfect for Americana.  Mark Hall provides a strong groove on the drums while Matt Gillam’s bass is a real highlight of this more laid back number from The Bosscats.  Gillam’s sonorous, sustained, melodious notes give the song  great depth, flowing like irresistible currents.  Reminiscent of Mark Knopfler, Townend’s gorgeous guitar solo grows out of the song – captivating stuff.

Lead vocalist and guitarist, Richard Townend, says of ‘Let it Go’: “I wanted to write a song which counterbalanced some of the darker lyrics on the album. We struggle sometimes to prioritise important things as we are blown off course by the bluster of irrelevant disagreements, just Let It Go.”

Richard Townend’s music career began straight from the Leeds College of Music and he went on to play with the likes of The Platters and Tony Christie before taking an extended break.  Since returning to the music scene with his first solo album in 2011, and the formation of the band, Townend has been relentlessly prolific.  He has penned over 300 songs and released 15 well-received albums that we have thoroughly enjoyed over the years.  ‘Let it Go’ is from the brand new album from Townend’s band The Mighty Bosscats.  The latest is ‘Photoshoot’ and the band continue to deliver high quality, well-crafted songs.  Check out the new album now.  But first absorb this.
