Here’s the recent video for “I’m in Love” from UK Americana-favourites Danny and the Champions of the World. Aside from the gorgeous vocal tune, the highlights are the keys from Thomas Collison and Henry Senior’s pedal steel; together they give the song great texture while Paul Lush picks out an absorbing, brilliantly-toned solo on electric guitar. “I’m in Love” is beautifully crafted and perfectly executed. Lyrically, the song is intriguing, with some wonderful images and details adding to the intimacy: “A Japanese book about Barbra Streisand // Porcelain look through cat’s eyes and // Liberty Blake, warrior on the wall of mine // Tommy’s Waits, lights on the line.”
“I’m in Love” is taken from “You Are Not a Stranger Here”, the band’s first new album in seven years. The follow-up to 2017’s “Brilliant Light” is possibly their most compelling work, receiving rave reviews and achieving a more expansive, adventurous sound. Produced by keyboardist Thomas Collison, the album offers intimate reflections and personal songs. Danny and the Champions of the World are just completing an extensive UK tour, showcasing some of the finest songwriting in the UK today. Enjoy.
Don‘t understand the high praise! The last record is more electro than real music! Just rubbish and huge disappointment!
