Sister Suzie was an instant hit at the Americana Festival in Hackney in January this year, her live set showcasing her powerful vocals and sassy self-penned songs, and demonstrating how drawing together musical influences including rockabilly, blues and classic soul, with a touch of ska as well, can sit happily in our favourite genre. Americana UK’s Dave Jarman was delighted to have the chance to talk to her about those influences, her deep love of the blues, especially pioneering women in blues, and her upcoming album releases.
