Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit deliver over eight minutes of musical magic in this electrifying live performance of ‘This Ain’t It’.  Isbell and his band are incredible performers – a tight, precise collective bursting with individual talent.  In this show from the Ryman, Isbell’s voice is smooth and powerful, sounding just like a studio recording.  Halfway through the song, the two guitars ‘talk’ to each other, going back and forth in a captivating, extended sonic dialogue.  This exchange is the highlight of the video for ‘This Ain’t It’ and demonstrates why there’s nothing quite like experiencing a great band on stage.

‘This Ain’t It’ features on ‘Live From The Ryman Vol. 2’, the brand new album from Isbell and the 400 Unit.  Longtime front-of-house engineer Cain Hogsed put together multi-track recordings from years of sold-out shows at the Ryman.  Since he first appeared at the Ryman Auditorium in 2014, Isbell has played over 50 sold-out shows at the legendary venue.  The two volumes of recordings are a fitting reflection of his relationship with this iconic venue.  The 15 tracks on this album are predominantly new versions of songs from Isbell’s acclaimed recent records, ‘Reunions’ (2022) and 2023’s ‘Weathervanes’; songs that were already wonderfully accomplished are transformed on stage into altogether stunning, affecting new music.  Check Isbell and the band out for yourself – they will be playing seven headline shows across the UK in November.  Hypnotic stuff.
