The new video from Kyshona, a performance of ‘More in Common’ recorded live at The Blueroom Studios, is strikingly, disarmingly beautiful. And just as beautiful as the music are Kyshona’s heartfelt words and the themes of reconciliation and unity: “No matter what you think // Where you been, who you are // We got more in common // Than what tears us apart.” This is a song that everyone in the world should listen to right now. ‘More in Common’ is a call to be better together.
The original version of the song appeared on Kyshona’s acclaimed 2020 album “Listen”, a collection that aimed to connect people at a time of uncertainty and division. She says, “I’m releasing ‘More in Common’ on Juneteenth as a reminder that none of us are truly free until all of us are free. When we peel back the layers that divide us and look closer at our shared values and stories, we begin to reconnect. The conversations that have come out of this tour have been powerful. People aren’t talking about differences—they’re talking about what unites us.”
Kyshona’s voice follows a sweet melodic path, supported by Larisso Maestro’s sweeping string arrangement. Maestro’s resonant cello intertwines with Kristin Weber’s violin in a timeless accompaniment to Kyshona’s vocal.
Kyshona is currently on tour in the USA and recently supported blues legend Taj Mahal at the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. If you’re a fan in the UK, you’ll be able to see Kyshona live at Black Deer in the City in London on 25th October 2025. Something to look forward to this autumn. While you wait, absorb this and spread the word – connection.
