The Matinee “Silver Bullet” – I got a fast car…

Vancouver’s roots-rocker The Matinee have a new release ‘End of Scene – B-Sides EP‘ out tomorrow.  The band explain the title, saying: “We’ve been holding onto these songs for a while, and now feels like the perfect time to share them with you.  When we were creating our 2023 album ‘Change of Scene‘, we brought a lot of ideas to the table. Some of those ideas made it onto the album, but a few gems didn’t quite fit the final vibe.  As we celebrate the one-year anniversary of an album that’s close to our hearts, we’re excited to close this chapter with an EP that offers a glimpse into our more collaborative side. We hope you enjoy these songs as much as we do!

And today’s song eulogises a car in a million – it never needs filling and it always gets where it needs to go.  Is it a go-cart?  Probably not – the journey’s sound too extensive, really it’s just a song about a reliable old motor, it may not look much, but when you’re at A and you want to get to B then who cares about looks?

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
