Madrid-born singer-songwriter Juana Everett has released ‘One Million Dollars’, an atmospheric new single and accompanying video. With direction and photography from María Salto and Luis Montero Rueda, this is a cinematic piece of filmmaking. Likewise, the song is full of tension and drama, lifted by the gorgeously tuneful chorus, which demonstrates Everett’s vocal range and her fine songcraft. Described as ‘dark country’, this is certainly compelling stuff – Joe Pisapia’s pulsing bass matches the sense of urgency provided by Jamie Dicks’ drums, while Alex Muñoz delivers electric guitar, baritone guitar and haunting pedal steel; his playing is truly, moodily epic, contributing to the soundtrack feel of ‘One Million Dollars’.
Lyrically, Everett immerses herself in an imaginary past life in the American West, and her character is determined to take revenge against a world that has rejected her and caused her pain. Full of dark fantasies and bad intentions, Everett’s alter ego is unapologetic and remorseless. Everett shares: “‘One Million Dollars’ is proof of certain human forces that women have traditionally learned to hide, to swallow in silence, letting them poison their hearts and minds. This song has allowed me to go deeper into certain dark emotions and make room for a kind of madness that needed to come out. As the chorus says: ‘Never underestimate the power of a woman, a very mad woman’.”
Early in 2026, Everett is aiming to release her sophomore album “Past Lives in California”. Mastered by Dave McNair (Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, R.E.M., Brandi Carlile, Susan Tedeschi, Beck), these songs are absorbing, haunting, quietly epic. Get lost in the darkness of the American West with Juana Everett.

It sounds like the theme song to a Spaghetti Western. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
