Here’s the atmospheric new single from South West London-based band Forest Bed. ‘The Party’s Over’ delivers spaced-out sounds over a hypnotic rhythm in this quiet epic of a song. A highlight is Paul Freeman’s atmospheric synth solo halfway through, which gives way to brightly twanging guitar, while Matt Markwick’s gloriously shimmering lap steel provides the ethereal backdrop throughout the whole song. In the accompanying video, the sun streams through the trees, striking a disco ball while the band play amongst abandoned cars and kaleidoscopic effects create the feel of hazy dreams. It’s just right for the band’s gently cosmic blend of alt-country, folk and americana.
