Nigerian-American singer-songwriter and guitarist Blessing Jolie asks a question in today’s track feature that we never really expected to hear. Yet here it is – a singer-songwriter asking themselves whether instead of being a troubadour they should instead have taken the path of the software developer. Speaking on the inspiration behind Software Developer, Blessing has said: “I watched all my old friends graduate college while I was still chasing a dream. I wondered who I would’ve been if I took the same four-year route but I’m learning to stand by myself through clarity, mistakes, and every detour. My life is mine to build and experiment with however my heart leads.”
Blessing Jolie was raised in Katy, Texas, and started out by sharing guitar and singing videos online, where her performances came to the notice of Thirty Tigers who signed her following the release of her 2022 debut EP the girl next door. On March 13th she’ll be releasing her debut album 20nothing, which explores themes of heartbreak, self-discovery and moving away from old versions of yourself as one moves through one’s twenties.
