And so All Star Tracks fortnight draws to a close with this song from the new release from Teddy Thompson, representing a return to recording new music after six years. The Game is taken from the album Never Be the Same which will be released on the 15th of this month. Thompson describes it as “The song is sort of Nick Lowe meets Roy Orbison, it’s quite stylized and retro. Lyrically, I think of it as being quintessentially American with its talk of jukeboxes and wedding bells chiming, almost like an Archie comic. On the other hand, I’ve had people tell me it reminds them of Nick Lowe and songs from that period, which is an association I do like.”
