Honey-voiced crooner, Jarrod Dickenson, will bring his own brand of Americana to the UK and Ireland later this month. Dickenson has toured assiduously throughout Europe and the UK in recent years, including festival appearances at Glastonbury, Black Deer and Larmer Tree.
Latest album ‘Ready the Horses,’ was released to critical acclaim in 2017 and was also recorded in the UK. His upcoming tour is sure to feature songs from his new EP, ‘Under A Texas Sky,’ of which Dickenson says: “it was a project that popped into my head out of nowhere but it’s one that I’m really excited about. I started thinking about all of the artists who have come out of Texas and thought it would be a fun project to record and cover some of their tunes in my own way, sort of paying tribute to other people who have gone before me from my own state.” The first of what he expects to be several volumes of recordings by his Texan based heroes features reimagined versions of songs by Roy Orbison, Esther Phillips, Willie Nelson, Doug Sahm and Guy Clark.
A natural-born spinner of yarns as tall as the hats from his native state, Americana UK’s David Cowling said of his latest album release: “Good God Jarrod can sing. He’s a natural storyteller with a voice rich as agave nectar; he holds a narrative and bends it however he feels, you hang onto every word.”
‘Under A Texas Sky‘ will be released on March the 8th in the UK/Europe via Continental Records. The first single from the EP, ‘Uptown,’ is out on Wednesday, the 16th of January.
Jarrod Dickenson is supported on his forthcoming tour by JP Ruggieri who played much of the slide guitar on the ‘Ready the Horses’ album.
