It was not a complete surprise when our last analysis of the existential angst that ravages the soul didn’t sit well with all. After all, it’s one thing for rock stars to fret about the everlasting pursuit of ever increasing wealth but, as Sharon Jones pointed out quite forcibly “I’ve go to pay my bills gotta pay my rent I’m hungry and I’m tired but my Money’s all spent.. Sometime it feels like the greenbacks are deliberately avoiding one: “Money, where have you gone to ? Money where are you hiding ?” she asked.
In fact it turns out that it’s not really hiding at all, or if it is then it’s in plain sight – as agony uncle Dick Gaughan was quick to point out. There’s plenty of money, it’s just that no matter how many fun things – like hard labour in factories and mines – the worker gets an RSVP for, those that are busy toiling don’t often get invited to the dividend discussions “we’re always the last when the cream is shared out ‘cos the worker is working when the fat cat’s about”
