Jesse Malin has new album coming, and a tour

Some good news comes our way from Jesse Malin – who not only has a new album ready to release but by jingo it’s a double album, the first of Malin’s career.  It’s called ‘Sad And Beautiful World ‘ and is out on September 24th on Wicked Cool Records.  It’s a collection of heartfelt and eloquent short stories, ‘Sad And Beautiful World’ was forged in the lost pandemic year and takes its title from a line of dialogue in Jim Jarmusch’s 1986 cult-classic film Down By Law.   Jesse Malin says of the album My music has always been about rebirth and redemption. Sad And Beautiful World is for those who pick up the pieces and find beauty in the madness.”

There’s a first sample of what’s to come in the shape of a single – ‘State of the Art‘, which finds Jesse Malin in a characteristically rocking mood and with a message to pass on “they still drink the cool-aid where you come from / You walk around town with your collar up / And you never got off on that racist stuff.”  Damn right.

Jesse Malin will be touring the UK in the Autumn (usual caveats apply man, going to caveat this stuff for a few months more, you know?) playing the following dates:

Monday, September 27, Glasgow – King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut
Tuesday, September 28, Newcastle – The Cluny & The Cluny 2
Wednesday, September 29, Manchester – Night & Day Café
Thursday, September 30, Leeds – Belgrave Music Hall
Saturday, October 2, Leek – The Maude
Tuesday, October 5, Bristol – The Fleece
Wednesday, October 6, Leicester – The Musician
Thursday, October 7, Nottingham – Metronome
Friday, October 8, London – The Garage

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
