The Night Owls are a folk/rock/Indie band from Quebec, consisting of Simon Arsenault and Marianne Bourgeois. Arsenault is a professional musician who performs as a session player for a variety of artists – he studied classical music, jazz and electro acoustic at the Cegep Saint-Laurent, Université de Montreal and at UQAM. He was also part of the progressive rock band Innerspace. Marianne Bourgeois is a self-taught singer-songwriter who had studied cinema and psychology, but had always written songs and poetry. For the past two years she’s been honing in on her own sound and taking singing lessons. As a couple stuck at home during the pandemic, they started writing songs, putting together music that fit with the lyrics Marianne had written – the result is The Night Owls.
The band explain their name and this song thusly: “We like to play music at night. The only thing that matters is each other, because in those times we feel like there’s only the two of us in the universe.”
We assume that the band photo indicates a secret desire to undertake communications with Hogwarts…
