US singer-songwriter Amigo the Devil (aka Danny Kiranos) has announced a short tour of the UK and the Republic of Ireland in July. He will be accompanied by his band promoting his most recent studio album ‘Yours Until The War Is Over’. Set lists from March dates suggest there will be plenty of selections from his other records too.
Released in late February, the record has drawn comparisons with Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen amongst others. It was reviewed by Peter Thompson for AUK who wrote: “Demands concentration but rewards effort. The lyrical content is exceptional; the pictures that Kiranos paints with his words are vivid and the wit employed in mostly unexpected places is a joy”.
Since the album’s release Kiranos has been pretty busy. He has just completed a US tour in March with Flogging Molly. Kiranos and the band then have fourteen dates in Australia and New Zealand from mid-April followed by a further run of gigs with Frank Turner in the US in May and June.
The UK and Republic of Ireland tour dates are as follows:
11 July Brighton Concorde 2
12 July Manchester Gorilla
13 July Cheltenham 2000 Trees Festival
15 July Leeds Wardrobe
16 July Glasgow Slay
17 July Birmingham Asylum
18 July London O2 Academy Islington
21 July Cork Cyprus Avenue
22 July Dublin Whelan’s
