Our new playlist of the best new Americana we’ve heard over the last month is out later today exclusively for AUK supporters which includes new tracks by Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, Alejandro Escovedo, Icarus Phoenix, Alan Doyle, JJ Grey & Mofro and Lawrence Rothman with Amanda Shires among others – basically we trawl through the best Americana we’ve heard recently so you don’t have to – and if you’re one of our supporters, this month you can win tickets to see Canadian singer-songwriter Jerry Leger who makes a much-anticipated return to the UK with his band The Situation for shows next month, giving audiences the first opportunity to savour live tracks from his acclaimed new album “Donlands”.

As Toronto’s music scene has grown in stature on the world stage, singer/songwriter Jerry Leger has been making his own significant contributions. all the while maintaining a long relationship with Cowboy Junkies as part of their Latent Recordings roster, with their songwriter/guitarist Michael Timmins often serving as producer. On new album “Donlands” Leger teamed up with Canadian producer/engineer Mark Howard (Lucinda Williams, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Neil Young), whose trademark atmospheric sound adds an entirely new dimension to Leger’s approach. Named after the street in Toronto’s East End where it was recorded, in what once was the Donlands Theatre, the album certainly presents him in a new light. Here are those dates:
