Annie Hughes “Stay Awhile” – go on, you know you want to….

We’re easing you into Monday morning this week with a song that could easily be an ode to extending a Sunday feeling for just a bit longer…if Annie Hughes were to slip in the line “let’s make it a 3 day weekend” it wouldn’t be out of place.

Annie shared with us the inspiration for the song: “There was a time when my husband, Pat Hubbard, was on the road a lot working with Lacy J. Dalton. Always made my heart ache when I saw him packing up to leave again.

Stay Awhile‘ was written by Annie Hughes and Randy Handley, and features Pat Hubbard on piano, harmonica, and engineering, Erin Rose Hubbard (their daughter) on drums and background vocals, David Martinez (their son-in-law) on bass and background vocals.   And the photo is by Curtis Martin – who, Annie Hughes pointed out: “happens to be Godfather to Erin Rose Hubbard. Truly a family affair!

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
