Anton O’Donnell wins ‘The Twang Factor’ 2020

When we first came up with the idea for ‘The Twang Factor’ we were unsure what kind of response we would get. As it happens we need not have worried as we had very many entrants and we hope that you have enjoyed the ten which we chose to feature in the first series. The standard was amazingly high, but in the end our very first featured entrant Anton O’Donnell from Glasgow came out on top. Congratulations to Anton, a worthy winner and a true vindication of our decision to stage this thing in the first place.

Anton sent this message: “What a sound way to end a slippery year!  I must confess, I’ve been consumed over the past wee while working on material for my debut record so I didn’t really keep tabs on the campaign. But listening/watching back on the other performances, there’s some great songs in there so it’s pretty cool to come in top of the heap.

High five to all that voted for me, shared the video, and for the kind words on the song, A double high 5 to Neil Mckenzie at Keep it Creative for the filming, the sound dudes at Saint Luke’s, Glasgow for the venue, and of course, Clint West and all at Americana UK for putting the Twang Factor together and giving a platform to us little guys. Appreciate you all, thank you. Merry Christmas to ya… I hope Santa’s good tae ye!” Anton

As Anton stated there he is currently working on his debut album, which is something we are really looking forward to in 2021. Until then you can find out more about Anton and his music by visiting his Facebook page here. Finally here’s a reminder of Anton’s winning performance:

We are now looking for new acts to appear on ‘The Twang Factor 2’  which will begin in February 2021. Interested? – click on this link to find out how to apply.

From buying my first record aged 10 and attending my first gig at 14, music has been a lifelong obsession. A proud native of Suffolk, I have lived in and around Manchester for the best part of 30 years. My idea of a perfect day would be a new record arriving in the post in the morning, watching Ipswich Town win in the afternoon followed by a gig and a pint with my mates at night,
