Tempting as it was to stay on a Grateful Dead path, serious consideration was given to picking something from the ‘Day Of The Dead’ tribute project, kick off track ‘Touch Of Grey’ by The War On Drugs likely that songs best ever cover (however the covering artists on their version of last week’s pick ‘Friend Of The Devil’ were Mumford and Sons, so you can make your own minds up about that). So instead a different direction to one of the devils epithets, and ‘Satan and St.Paul’ by John Fullbright. A brilliant writer and astonishing live performer, Fullbright has not yet achieved enough recognition, though not releasing anything for six years and producing instead certainly hasn’t helped his visibility. Enjoy, then go back and revisit his great early albums.
